Jerrub laughs at me because I still celebrate our “dating anniversary”! But, I think it’s important to remember when it all began. It isn’t like we buy each other gifts or do anything crazy… Just another reason to say I love you and Happy Anniversary. And then laugh about how I was the one who asked him out 😉
Yes, I asked my husband to be my boyfriend. We had been “talking” and hanging out off and on for a couple of months. I wasn’t looking for anything serious at that point and he was still having fun. We definitely enjoyed hanging out together and there was something different with him, but I was still hesitant to take it to the next level. One night I even received a text from him saying ” I want you to be my girlfriend more than you know.” But he knew I just wasn’t ready to say yes.
I ended up asking him to go home with me one weekend from college to visit my family and friends. He said yes and we were on our way. We had a great weekend, and he actually met my whole mom’s side of the family that weekend. And it didn’t scare him away 🙂 When we got back to college, my mom called me and told me I’d be crazy if I didn’t start dating him. Soooooo… I realized she was right!
(That was the weekend he came home with me for the 1st time)
I asked a couple of my friends to go to the fraternity house with me cause I was super nervous…(now I know why guys do the asking out). He came outside and met me. Of course my 2 girlfriends in the car had the windows down listening which made me even more nervous. But, right then and there I said “I had a lot of fun this weekend and I realize I’d be crazy if I lost you. Will you be my boyfriend?” He said “Of course!” And we have been together ever since. We still talk about that exact conversation every year that our anniversary roles around!
